Honoring Our WWII Veterans
LOS ANGELES – Military Animal Project will celebrate its 10th year of service with the A Salute to Our WWII Heroes fundraiser in Camarillo, CA. The event will be held the evening of October 26, 2024 at the Commemorative Air Force Museum. The 1940s themed event will recognize the heroic efforts of several service men from World War II. Ventura County’s own Navy “Seabee” Lt. Ret. William L. Mors, Ex-POW and escapee Army veteran Staff Sgt. John J. Procko, Jr. and Killed in Action Pvt. Antonio Montanez who lost his life at the Battle of the Bulge will all be honored. The evening’s program will be hosted by Bill Johnson, a Bob Hope impersonator, and will feature a 9-piece swing band and performances by Satin Dollz, a troupe of top female entertainers reminiscent of the WWII USO shows. Dinner and a no-host bar will be included.
It is estimated that there are roughly 18 million Americans who are veterans, with about 30% of them having disabilities as a result of their service. Veteran suicide is at an all-time high, with 22 veterans committing suicide daily. The VA estimates that 30% of those who served in combat are dealing with PTSD. Additionally, many veterans are homeless, and approximately 84% say they feel like a “guest” in their own home. Despite these challenges, 94% of those surveyed are proud of their service. Military Animal Project is one of a network of veterans’ non-profits that help serve our military veterans.
A Salute to our WWII War Heroes is open to the public. Tickets are available at A Salute to our WWII War Heroes. Early bird tickets are available through September 21, 2024 at a 10% discount. Sponsorships are also available by contacting mardu@militaryanimalproject.com.
