Ride to the Flags
On Saturday, Sept. 8, we got to be part of the Ride to the Flags, now in it’s 11th year. We were so excited to be part of this moving event. Sponsored by the White Heart Foundation, the event began at the Naval Base at Point Mugu for a 9/11 memorial event and then the ride went to Malibu, along Pacific Coast Highway. It ended up at Malibu Bluffs for Rally Americana Hundreds of motorcyclists typically participate in the event. The event was located just across the street from Pepperdine University’s 9/11 memorial, “Waves of Flags,” which features 2,977 flags at Alumni Park to honor each of the victims of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
…And “Flipping Vegas” stars Scott and Amie Yancey stopped by our booth at Ride to the Flags!!
Ventura County Stand Down
We were part of Ventura County Stand Down which is designed to assist homeless veterans regardless of where they live. The goal is to improve the lives of veterans who need assistance by giving them comprehensive access to services within a single location and connecting them with community resources needed to begin rebuilding and improving their lives. The program is successful because it brings these services to one location, making them more accessible to homeless veterans. Veterans benefit from a wide range of support services. Counselors and local resources are available to meet and talk with veterans about benefits available to assist them. Medical, Dental, and Health screenings along with on-site haircuts are included along with legal counsel and employment services just to name a few.
