Military Animal Project has been welcomed into the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s Got Your 6 Network, joining nearly 400 partner organizations working across the country to support veterans, service members, and their families.
The Got Your 6 Network is the largest non-governmental network of veteran service providers in the United States. Its partners reach communities in all 50 states, American Samoa, Guam, and Puerto Rico, delivering physical and mental health care, housing and legal assistance, disaster relief, and employment support. In 2024 alone, Network partners served 2.3 million members of the military community.
The name carries the weight of its mission. During World War I, American fighter pilots coined the phrase “I’ve got your six” to signal that they were covering a fellow pilot’s rear position. The Bob Woodruff Foundation built a network around that same promise: our veterans had our backs, and now we have theirs.
For the Military Animal Project, the invitation aligns naturally with the organization’s founding belief that second chances belong to both people and animals, and that healing often happens best when the two come together. Joining the Network places MAP’s work alongside peers committed to the long-term well-being of those who served.
“Being named to the Got Your 6 Network is a tremendous honor for Military Animal Project,” said Mardu Lydick, founder and president of Military Animal Project. “The Bob Woodruff Foundation has built something extraordinary: a community of organizations that share resources, learn from one another, and reach veterans in every corner of the country. We are proud to bring our work with veterans and rescued animals into that conversation, and grateful for the chance to learn from partners who have been serving this community for decades.”
The road ahead is full. More veterans to reach. More animals to rescue. More second chances to set in motion. Military Animal Project is ready for the work, and grateful to be counted among a Network that has our back.
