MAP & AMAZON OXR-1 - PAWS & PATRIOTS CELEBRATION

On November 10, 2023, Military Animal Project and Amazon OXR-1 Fulfillment & Distribution Center had their 3rd event highlighting two Amazon Affinity Groups –

Warriors of Amazon: This group provides members with a professional network, organizes community outreach programs, and assists veterans during their transition into civilian life within Amazon.

Mental Health & Well-Being: This group promotes employee well-being and to create a safe community where employees can come together to reduce the stigma of mental health, raise awareness, create a culture of acceptance, and support one another.

The Paws & Patriots event celebrated the 248th Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day. It was also a Celebration of Life honoring Marine Corps League #597 Jr. Commandant Brent Kast, who passed away unexpectedly on October 28th. Brent lead the MCL #597 Color Guard for the MAP/Amazon Memorial Day event #2 at the end of May. He was a teacher at Agoura High and was involved in many community outreach programs. Most importantly, Brent was our dear friend and he will truly be missed. Semper Fi, Until Valhalla…

MAP also had 14 of our certified insured therapy dog teams greeting the employees and touring the facility. During the event we were honored to have the Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County Color Guard present flags, participate in the Marine Corps Birthday cake cutting and the traditional serving of the cake from the oldest Marine to the youngest Marine!

Before the event ended, Amazon had one last announcement to make…presenting MAP with a $25,000 donation! It was an amazing surprise addition to the celebration! All of us at MAP are grateful for Amazon’s support and we look forward to creating more events in 2024 with Amazon, their veteran employees and our MAP volunteers!
